With thousands of Podcasts now available for free download on virtually every topic imaginable, we thought it time that you were offered a regular SimplyDV podcast devoted to digital video and containing news, reviews, hints & tips for beginners and serious enthusiasts.

What is a Podcast?


A Podcast (the first of which was made available as recently as August 2004) is simply an audio or video production which is available for internet download and listening (or viewing) either on the computer or for transferring to a portable player like the Apple iPod or Sony PSP.

Each new edition delivered direct to your computer, iPhone or other Mobile Device automatically!


What makes podcasts particularly exciting is that you can request that your software checks for the latest edition of the podcast series and downloads it - together with any others you're interested in - to your computer automatically. It's just like having a newspaper or magazine delivered to your door the second it's published!

How does it know that I want to receive it automatically?


All you have to do is to visit a podcast directory site and click the Subscribe button. In iTunes, for instance, the information contained in a special file called a Feed will tell your computer when there's a new version available and download it automatically. It's an audio (or video) version of your newspaper via the web!

Do I need an iPod to listen to or view the SimplyDV Podcasts?


Definitely not! Our audio Podcasts are simple MP3 files and can be downloaded by Windows or Apple Mac computers and copied across to any portable MP3 player. With the appropriate software (such as Apple's freely-available iTunes application) you can organise your podcasts just like any other MP3 file and either copy them to your MP3 player as you require or even make CDs of them. There's no easier way to receive new audio and video programming via the web!
